Bright Star foundation

The Bright Star Foundation (BSF) is an independent, Non - Government Organization based in Arusha, Tanzania. It was established on 21 st January, 2013. It is registered under the Non-Government Organization Act, 24/2002 with the registration No. 00NGO/00006043. The BSF aims to collaborate with other NGOs and the government in addressing poverty through promotion of social development, economic justice and peace. 

The BSF engages the government development National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (NGRP) particularly cluster I and II which aim at improving the standards of living of the people in Tanzania. It has been collaborating with other organizations in communities to address the former Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals as the recent perspective.

WHAT WE DO

Ø Educational support specifically grants for school necessities for the elite disadvantaged O level students in Arumeru and Arusha District councils. Education promotion for the youth by encouraging competence and completion of their ordinary level of education.

Ø Providing capacity building and financial support for qualified beneficiaries with required initiatives. To promote productive uses and adding value to local available resources so as to generate income and improve livelihoods.

Ø Advocacy against violence (gender based violence & violence against children). To engage legal aid, conflict resolution and peace building to target communities as well as influencing social welfare and development initiatives.

Ø Support for the girl child and women empowerment. To emphasize on education, moral and supplies support

Ø To promote women’s influence in the societies’ growth & development.

 

        WHAT WE AIM TO ACHIEVE

1.     Educational support and financial aid for the disadvantaged high performing students.

2.     Empowered entrepreneurs with the understanding and willingness to conduct business in a professional manner through advisory services and business administration trainings.

3.     Creditworthy entrepreneurs with the ability to also access appliances that sustain the operations of their particular businesses, this is through entrepreneurship and appliance use training as well as appliance and capital access linkage.

4.     Communities that work in accordance to the law in supporting survivors of violence, reporting incidences and influencing as well as promoting social wellbeing and peace building.

5.     Empowered Communities that provide sex and health seminars and a system that makes the society accountable so as to counter the negative influences that hinder learning competency and development.

6.     Empowered women through development workshops and encouraging Small scale enterprises operated individually by women or their community groups.
